With the Anglia Business Exhibition only a few months away, and the start of another Wedding Fair season looming, our minds at VIP Balloons have been focused on what makes a good exhibition display.
We have been showing at Wedding Fairs throughout East Anglia since the late 1990s and learnt very early on that to stand out from the crowd, you need to be different.
A good stand, whether it’s at a trade show, wedding fair or country fete needs something that catches the eye from a distance – something big. This should be different from other people, a talking point, the ‘lure’ to draw them in. Once you have this, there needs to be something smaller that can’t quite be understood from afar, something that reveals itself as your potential clients draw closer. Finally you have ‘the small’, that needs them to be at your stand, where you can interact with them and make the sale.
So many times at trade shows we see people sitting behind a table, with a pop up banner behind them and some leaflets. Nothing to inspire any potential clients to want to come over. Maybe if your pop up banner is engaging you might draw them in, however these banners are everywhere and rarely exciting.
A few years ago at the Anglia Business Exhibition, the ‘Best Stand’ award went to Seckford Hall who brought a feeling of their county hotel to the show by laying a rug down with a large arm chair on it and a suit of armour beside it. This immediately intrigued me, causing me to take a closer look. Once nearby I was hooked by staff handing out canapés with their literature.
At the wedding fairs that we exhibit at, we team up with Niche Cocktails to share a double stand. This works well for us as we need a much larger space to display our designs, the colours can coordinate with the cocktails and, as we often tell our potential clients, where there are cocktails there’s a party and where there’s a party you need balloons!
At last year’s Anglia Business Exhibition we worked, not only with Niche Cocktails, but also with The Paella and Tapas Company to take over a much bigger space. We ditched the grey back boards that all the other stands used and turned our four square metres of The Suffolk Showground into a slice of Spain by adding artificial grass, building two full size balloon trees, a cocktail bar and filled paella dish with tasty ingredients. The stand was the talk of the show and, for the second year, we won the award for the best stand of the show.
Next time you are looking to show off you wares, whether it be homemade cards at a craft fair, insurance policies that you believe are the best, or the latest product from your new range, make sure that you think outside the box and stand out from the crowd; have something BIG, a LURE and the SMALL.
If you are exhibiting at ABE2017 and would like us to create that big first impression, we have some special offers available which can be seen by clicking here. If you have another event or would like us to create something bespoke for you, please contact us and we would be very happy to go through your ideas and assist you in making them a reality.
