The Handmade Shop and Gallery in Bury St Edmunds is a fantastic little gallery where the artists themselves man the shop and are on hand to talk you through their work. In the last two weeks we have look at Carola Smedjebacka Design and Red Sparrow Crochet and this week we take a look at Julia Masterman.
“Living and working in Suffolk my work is strongly influenced by colour and light.” explains Julia, “My subject matter often includes landscape, something that I take refuge in and has been a focus for much of my work. The changing colours and light within nature are ephemeral and fleeting and the essence of this moment creates my starting point.”
As well as her landscape prints, I was stunned by her mix of words and pictures in a number of her pieces including this design featurd on her website. Julia has an exhibition of her work on until 15th November at The Lounge Cafe in Hatter Street, Bury St Edmunds, giving you another opportunity to see her work.
Next week we take our final look at an artist from the gallery, so if you can’t get down to see the shop for yourself, call back and drink in the art here!
At VIP Balloons we love art and design in whatever form and each Monday we will post ideas and examples that we have found and like. Often we use these pieces to inspire us with our creations. If you would like us to create some balloon art or decor based on something you have seen, contact us and we will work with you to come up with ideas
