Those of you who follow our blogs will know that on Monday’s we take a look at art that inspires us. This week, not only does that art inspire us, it also feeds us.
This is a representation of Jeff Koons’ $55 million Balloon Dog made out of cake by photographer, Sarah Anne Ward. She used less that $5 to recreate the iconic design and also had the pleasure of eating her finished piece.
Like much of modern art, context is key when appreciating Sarah Anne’s work. On Pinterest this dish might simply be a recipe for “ooey-gooey cookie bars,” but in this series it’s an appetizing take on Jackson Pollock’s abstract expressionism.
Sarah Anne continues her theme of making edible art and then photographing it with this homage to Mondrian. It is probably the first time a Jelly mould has ever been called tasteful.
