If you read our last blog you will know that Samuel Stamp-Dod from VIP Balloons travelled ‘up north’ to attend the Blackpool Balloon Bash to develop his skills at twisting balloons. For those of you who have attended some of the many parties he has been at will know that he can make some great designs, but at the Bash he was able to develop his skills further and create some amazing new designs.
In this blog we are going to look at the first latex lecturer, Antonio Bécares Rodríguez. Antonia comes from Italy and is know throughout the world for his amazing creations and at this year’s Bash he showed the delegates how to take some popular designs and make them extra special!
“I started juggling when I was 16 and two years later, I made my first balloon dog. For many years I only knew the 260s (standard modelling balloons) and played with them making simple figures.” explains Antonio, “It was not until 2006, when I went to Euro-Jam in Germany that I discovered how big the world of balloons is. I also discovered great professionals, who taught me all the techniques that were the key to develop my own designs, and for the first time I saw balloons in a different way.”
At the Bash Antonio taught two classes where he showed the delegates how to turn simple designs into magical designs. By adding a few extra twists snakes became rattle snakes, car actually would move and helicopters had propellers that would fly! He even showed the class how an alien could speak through the balloon.
If you would like to see for yourself what Samuel learnt at the Blackpool Balloon Bash, he would be delighted to create something magical for your event. Please contact him and he will be happy to offer you a free no-obligation consultation where he can go through all the details and prices for you.
In the next blog, we look at how Samuel meets up with a world renowned balloon artist who grew up just around the corner from him, Phileas Flash!
